Chap 14 A Beautiful Day !

Next day being Sunday, both Vrinda and Arun slept till late. Ghazal had the entire dawn time to ponder on her feelings and thoughts. Last few weeks had been very confusing for her, with Mihir’s call adding to her confusion. She took a tour of the house, rearranging pieces of furniture as well as the decorative pieces, which had been left at the servants’ disposal, Arun not taking any interest whatsoever.
Then she made breakfast and tea , arranged them on the garden table at the terrace, which she had decorated herself years ago . She was disappointed at the pathetic condition, it was in now. Pots of plants were misplaced and the artificial spring fountain needed redecoration and the swing too needed new covers. But she felt hesitant as to whether she had any right to do the changes. Her reverie was broken by Arun’s entry, who smiled and wished her good morning. She too smiled and wished him, offering him a cup of tea with his favourite poha and vegetable sandwiches. They had breakfast silently, going through newspapers, but Ghazal could sense him watching her in between.
It was Arun who spoke first, asking her if they could go to the farm house for few hours, for a short picnic and then to a nice garden restaurant for dinner. She agreed, knowing fully well that Vrinda would love the idea. Taking his leave, she went to give instructions to the cook to ready a picnic basket. Vrinda came running to the kitchen, hugging her mother and then quickly joined her father on the terrace, hugging him too. Giving her a glass of milk and her plate, Ghazal went to get ready. Dressed up casually in a pair of jeans and a kurti, she looked much younger than her years, and nobody could guess, she was mother of a twelve year old girl. Within an hour, three of them were out of the house, seated in the car and off to their picnic.
A beautiful day awaiting with a wonderful evening to end it with !!
