Chap 20 THEIR ENGAGEMENT

Almost a week had gone, since Vaibhav had proposed Ghazal. Although they met everyday in the group, neither of them bring up the topic. Vaibhav wanted her to take all the time she needed to take her decision. Ghazal was really grateful to him for this. But not everything happens according to our wish. Life has its own pace and destiny plays an important role in all our decisions and actions.
         One fateful day, when Ghazal came home from market, she saw their family doctor coming out from the house with her grand-father who looked very worried. Instead of asking him anything, she rushed inside to find her grand-mother looking seriously ill. Later her grandpa told her, she ‘d had a mild heart- attack and needed complete rest. From that day Ghazal took all the responsibility of the house-hold, spending almost every minute awake with her grandma. She had stopped going out with her friends, they came to visit her sometimes except Mihir and Vaibhav who visited her everyday and tried to help her in every way possible. Mihir was no stranger to her grand-parents, but it was Vaibhav who had come close to them during this period.
          Both her best friends had noticed that Ghazal had grown silent, she talked less and smiled less. Sometimes they asked her to come out with them but she always refused, not willing to leave her grandma alone. Her care and love for her grandma showed results and she recovered sooner than expected.
             One evening after dinner, when Ghazal was reading a book,her grandpa came and sat near her. She looked up and smiled at him, asking if he needed something. He nodded his head in the negative and said that he wanted to ask her something. What he asked her was not at all she had expected. “ Ghazal , do you like Vaibhav? We like him a lot and I've noticed he is very fond of you . Your grandma and myself were thinking, if you too like him, we can go and talk to his parents about you both. Think about it sweet heart..no hurry...whatever it may be, your decision would be the final one.” Saying this he made to leave, but she caught his hand asking him to stop and it was then she told him about Vaibhav’s proposal. Her grandpa looked happy on hearing this and that made her sure that Vaibhav was the right partner for her and she gave her affirmation.
                  Mihir was the first person to know and he arranged a meeting of the two families next day. Ghazal was no stranger for Vaihav’s family, comprising of his parents and his younger sister,Rimjhim. They all were fond of her and soon all of them were discussing the engagement date. Vaibhav and Ghazal’s eyes met and they exchanged a smile, a smile of trust, love n bonding they shared. It was a new beginning in their life, and Mihir was very happy for both his friends. He knew they were perfect for each other.
