Chap 20 Can Life Take A U-turn

A strange feeling of  emptiness had crept in with their returning to her grandparents house, as if she had left a part of her at Arun’s house, which had been her home once. Last few weeks had been very different from the time she had spent years ago just after her marriage to him. Those days had been filled with bitterness, owing to his possessive nature and his misunderstandings related to her friendship with Mihir. His ego and his orthodox views had prevented him to understand the purity of her friendship with Mihir, who was everything to her, a best friend, a brother, a mentor, a guide…. They shared a bonding which was so pure that no one, who had known them, had ever attached anything dark with their friendship.
She guessed, now that he had realised his folly, Arun was more at peace with himself and that had reflected in his behaviour recently, and hence that reconciling call to Mihir. But it was too late now for them to restart afresh and forget that bitterness and negativity. Or was it ??
Her cell gave a beep sound. It was a message by Samar. “hiii What’s up Tokudi ? How are you? Open-mouthed smileReached home?”
She smiled at the nameSmileand replied, “yup Chiku ! I’m back home and fine. You say How are you? Are things all right at your end?”
“yup everything fineSmilecan we talk?”, came his reply.
She dialled his number and he picked up at the second ring. Their conversation that day was limited to her sharing about the events last week, ranging from day at the farmhouse, evening at the restaurant , to Rimjhim’s visit and her surprise gift. Samar was more than pleased with the happenings in her life, as he always wished happiness and peace for his best friend. He asked her to start writing poetry again, as he knew how important that was to her. He was successful in convincing her that, that was what Vaibhav would have loved, had he been alive. What came as a surprise to her, was his Question, “ Toku , can’t you go back to Arun forever? At least try for Vrinda’s sake. She needs both her parents. I know how important is a father for a child. Who else can know this more than you yourself.”
“ I don’t think it is possible now. Chiku, its been too long and I’ve come too far. I have no feelings left for him.”, was her reply.
“ That’s even better. Start afresh, and you can surely do it , with so much love in your heart. Please Kuchi, at least give it a try. I don’t want to see you alone. I want to see you happy and smiling always. For my sake, please try”, Samar said.
Ghazal was speechless, unable to say anything, her eyes wet with tears. “ Ok I’ll try Chiku ………..” , was all she could say.
“ Good Toku , I’m sure everything will be fine. You take care and don’t cry. I know you are strong and can do it. Love you Kuchi ”, Samar said, his eyes getting wet.
“ Love you too Chiku . Cyaa”, They hanged up.
