Chap 16 Memories : old and new

Watching the Sun going down and the sky filled with so many shades, brought back those fond memories when she and Vaibhav had often watched sunset together from the terrace of her house. She remembered asking him once, when she caught him looking at her, why did he love sunset so much. His reply had touched her heart.
“ I love to see all those beautiful colours in the sky reflected in your eyes. I wish to spend every sunset with you in front of me, watching that sweet blush on your face just like a new bride. I want you in my dreams every night looking just as beautiful, not knowing which one would be the last.”
Lost in his loving words, a droplet had slipped from her eye, taken quickly on his finger before it dropped down. But today he wasn’t there to stop the springs flowing from both her eyes. A knock on the door, brought her back to present. She washed her face in the washroom and came out wiping her face with a towel, and opened the door. Vrinda was ready for dinner, looking like a barbie doll in one of her new dresses. “ oh mom !! you are not ready yet? Come fast , me and dad are ready, we are waiting for you”, Vrinda said, sounding eager to step out in her new dress.
“ Sorry my doll… just give me 10 minutes dear . I’ll join you both”, she said giving her angel a peck on her cheek .
True to her words, she stepped out of the bedroom after 10 minutes, looking like a princess herself in the lovely red sari, gifted to her by Arun. He couldn’t take his eyes off her, realising for the first time in years, how much of that sadness in her eyes was because of his stubborn attitude and insecurity. He decided then, he would make up for all the hurt ,he had caused her through his unreasonable behaviour. This evening would be a new beginning in their relationship.
The Garden restaurant and the courses served were a treat to senses. Set up in the lush green surroundings, with a waterfall created a serene atmosphere. Their table was placed in a corner, with a large candle at the centre, along with fresh flowers in a crystal flower pot. A sweet fragrance from the scented candle and the light music playing, had a soothing effect on Ghazal’s emotional being, making her relax a little. The food served was delicious and they ate in silence, just enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. Vrinda seemed happy, just being with both her parents.
Dessert was a complete surprise for Ghazal. It was her favourite vanilla cake in a heart shape with strawberry topping. Arun insisted three of them cut the  cake, a remembrance of the beautiful day with a perfect evening. They shared the cake, feeding a piece to each other. Ghazal looked up in the sky and gazed towards the brightest star, which twinkled at that very moment, as if someone blinked at her with a naughty smile. Her face lit up with a smile too.
