Chap 13 Ghazal meets Vaibhav

The next day would prove to be a turning point in her life, but Ghazal was unaware of this. Yes she had decided to meet Vaibhav but she did not know then, that he would become so important a part of her life. Next morning, when she met Rimjhim just before the class, she told her she'll meet her brother in the college canteen at 4pm,if he could make it then. Vaibhav was not from her college. He had completed his graduation and was pursuing higher studies from the Rajasthan University. Along with his post graduation, he was also helping his father in his handicrafts business. Rimjhim had already given her brother,s introduction to Ghazal. Later in the evening she introduced both of them and left them alone. The canteen was relatively vacant as most of the classes had got over till that time, and students had left the college. All her friends had left too. She had told them she needed to spend sometime in the library.
Vaibhav was quite good looking. He was a tall guy, fair complexion, with dark brown eyes and dark brown hair. He was not someone, anyone could just ignore, a face that smiled quite often and a smile that reached his eyes. With a smile he said, “hello, how are you?”  “I’m good, and you?”,she replied. “can I ask you something, how come you’ve known me for two years, yet waited for such a long time to talk to me. Why me of all the girls? there are so many prettier girls in our college.”, she asked again. “Simply because they are not you. I don’t just want a pretty face in my life, what attracts me is the person behind that face and body. you are beautiful no doubt, but what attracted me towards you was your personality as a whole. I noticed you the first day when you entered the college, dressed up in a blue churidaar suit. You were looking very pretty, yet unaware of your own beauty. You were with your friends, laughing at some joke you shared. I could not take my eyes of you. I came to drop Rimjhim everyday and my eyes always searched to get a look of you. Yet, you always seemed to be oblivious of all others, except your own friends. Rimjhim always shared all her college activities with me, and she had grown quite fond of you, due to your helping nature and your cheerful personality. Then came the cultural week in the college, and I saw your dance performance. Has anyone ever told you, your eyes speak more than your pretty mouth. You were fabulous and the trophy of the best dancer was a well deserved one. But what made me sure that I wanted you as my friend, was your poetry which was published in the college magazine. I read it when Rimjhim brought the magazine home. There it was, with an innocent smile on your pretty face, looking out of the page. ‘You N Me’. " He could have gone on and on but noticing the blush on her face and her discomfort, he thought better of it, and simply said, “Can we be friends now?”,handing her a large envelope with a yellow flower attached on it. She took the envelope and was about to open it , when he stopped her, asking her to open it when she went home. She agreed and smiled at him, looking into his eyes, which were smiling at her. It was getting late so she took his leave promising him to meet again soon. It was the beginning of a new friendship and a new phase in their life. Red heart
