Yaadein...............the sweet n sour moments shared from life.

It was my weekly shopping day. Hot afternoon and what better option to beat the heat than a glass of sweet butter milk or LASSI as we call it. While I was enjoying my lassi, there stops a car and a couple with their 5 year old boy step out. They ordered three glasses of lassi, large size. I was quite surprised, wondering whether that 5 year old would be able to consume so much. Out of courtesy, just kept quiet. They were served, as i finished mine and as i was paying, i heard that cute boy telling his mother : " mom ab bas aur nahi peena (mom i've had enough, don't want to drink more.)" Out of curiosity, I looked at the glass and was not surprised to see only one-fourth had been consumed. His mother simply took the glass from him and threw it carelessly into the trash bin. All of a sudden, to my surprise, a street kid came from nowhere , just picked up the half filled glass from the bin and started licking the sides greedily so as ...

Its been an y ear, since i witnessed this incident, but the memories of that pretty girl of 19years are still etched in my mind. Yes she was very pretty and that itself became a curse for her. Daughter of poor parents,who readily agreed to give her hand to a person, double her age,as he made an offer they couldn't refuse. A marriage without dowry and a LITTLE HELP for her family. Coming to know, just two days before her wedding, that he is already married with two kids, she dared to REFUSE. He simply walks in her house, and sets her to FIRE, walks out, threatens her family, bribes all concerned and returns to his heaven. An year has passed, life still goes on , what if a girl lost her precious life at a tender age of 19, her family who could hardly get two proper meals earlier, now have a PUCCA roof on their head , her father is a proud owner of an AUTO RICKSHAW, and can be often heard saying CHEERS in the evening. bY- VINITA SURANA

After a troubled sleep at night, Ghazal woke up with the alarm clock buzzing. She had a terrible headache, then she remembered Samar… She prayed silently hoping everything was all right. Hastily she finished her daily chores , got herself and Vrinda ready and just before leaving for school, she logged in on fb. Her eyes filled up with tears, blurring her vision for a while. Her inbox had a message from Samar: GOOD MORNING kUCHI !! SORRY COULDN’T MESSAGE YESTERDAY DUE TO NETWORK PROBLEM…..MISSED YOU HAVE A NICE SMILING DAY Her face lit up with a smile, and taking a sigh of relief, she quickly typed a message : GOOD GOOD MORNING CHIKU…. THANK GOD  !! WAS SO WORRIED.. LEAVING FOR SCHOOL… SEE YOU IN THE AFTERNOON …MISSED YOU TOO AND A LOT…… That evening their friendship took a new turn , a new level of trust, when they exchanged their cell numbers. Just exchanged a few text messages , with a strange new feeling deep inside. Ghazal knew fully well, she had got a friend for life, ...

  Everyone says “I Love Rain” Some link it with love Others link it with pain. But we all love rain.   Those little droplets Are not merely pleasure or pain. Ask the barren land That have no tears to drain. Ask the dying plants What pain is greater than losing your life in vain. Ask those innocent residents of vanishing forests “Who gets pleasure in lieu of their pain?” Yes we all love the rain.   We let it fall from our palms When we should keep it close to our heart. We have no banks to store and preserve This blood which gives every life a start. We miss its loving touch Yet, to save it, we don’t do much. Yes we all love the rain. It was a new dawn, sky filled with a light divine. Two Angels they seemed, wings with a silvery shine. Words of Destiny, had their fates defined. One was Love eternal, the other was Beauty most refined. To two different worlds they belonged. Pure Souls were they, unspoilt and never wronged. Destiny Dear, then had its way. Mirage of colours filled the sky that day. With the first golden rays falling, The dewy bud opened its wings. A sweet Fragrance took to its journey To glow in the Garden where Love sings. Mesmerized he was and wandered to the Path destined. There lived in a cottage, Beauty most refined. A Magic it was or Miracle of a kind. It looked as if two souls were caught in a bind. Another beautiful morning !! yet with different colours. Ghazal woke up and after her regular prayers, logged on FB on her cell. Early morning message from Samar HI KUCHI !! JUST REACHED HOME.. WELCOME BACK Morning hours went in a flurry as she and Vrinda got ready and left for school. It was a busy day and Ghazal was exhausted mentally as well as physically, but did she mind ?? After their lunch , Ghazal helped Vrinda with her project, and when she went off to play with her friends, she logged on to see if Samar had sent a message..It was there , sent an hour earlier, asking her to come online for a chat.       She was late and he had gone offline. Memories, whether sweet or sour, are a part of one’s life. They can neither be separated nor merged with the present. To live one has to put them in a soft corner of one’s heart, safe n secure . Ghazal’s life had been a series of such memories, both sweet as well as sour. But such is life                Ghazal’s life revolved around her darling daughter, Vrinda. She had eyes only for her, but with Samar’s friendship entering in her life, it was as if she got a breath of fresh air… Samar with his carefree  yet caring nature had filled a vacuum in her life. She  laughed when he was in touch, missed him when they both were busy in their respective works. It was a pure and clean friendship with a special bonding.          Days flew by and it was the last day of Samar’s training. Both of them were eagerly waiting for the day to pass. Ghazal was so deeply engrossed in her memories that she didn’t reali z e , the day was over and Vrinda was back from her friend’s house. Her darling daughter came and hugged her tight, kissing her lovingly on the cheek. Vrinda had always been an affectionate child. She had grown up to be a sincere and understanding girl, owing to the circumstances in their life. She had an amicable relation with her father too. She missed her father sometimes, especially when she watched her friends with their father. Ghazal had often seen that look of longing in her eyes, the reason she had not taken divorce from Arun. Although its been 8 years of their separation, yet they had remained in touch for their daughter’s sake.          Twice a month, Arun visited them, as was the arrangement between them. He spent the whole day with them, took them for outing, shopping for Vrinda, dinner at some restaurant, and after dropping them home,left for his own house. Vrinda...

Ghazal’s life had come to a stand-still, when one day a sweet little light entered in her otherwise dark life. A new life was to be borne . The thought disturbed her at first, she was scared of the new responsibility . But the day she held her pretty daughter Vrinda in her arms, she forgot all her losses. Vrinda was a pretty little angel, who gave her a new reason to live.           She got totally immersed in her new role, that of a doting mother. Vrinda became the pivotal point of her life. On one hand , her marriage was falling off, on the other she was happy with her little angel. Arun’s business trips were getting longer and longer, not that she bothered. What really terrified her ,were the days when he was at home. He was a short –tempered person, with a unreasonable possessive nature. The large house became her prison, a long tunnel of darkness, with her only ray of  light, her darling angel, Vrinda.     ...

 Yes it was a beautiful night. Soothing,smiling moonlight With twinkling stars bright. Flowers n leaves dancing To the tunes of silence serene. Fragrance of love playing On the cool soft breeze. Ghazal entered into another stage of her life. From the sweet cosy little  home of her grand father , she had come into a huge house with large rooms but no one to occupy them. Arun lived all alone with an army of staff to look after the huge mansion. Ghazal seemed lost in the large house with no one to share her thoughts and feelings and no one to answer her queries. Arun seemed to have time only for his business, even when he was at home, he had some or the other work to deal with. Loneliness seeped in gradually into her life. He didn’t even like her friends, and whenever they came to meet her, his indifference made them feel bad, and slowly they stopped coming at her house (yes house it was, never her home, for she never belonged there.). But Mihir could not leave his best friend alone in her misery. He kept in touch, calling her alternate days and sometimes visiting her too, until that doomed day , when Arun insulted him with abuses of very low order , blaming him for interfer...
